IW360 - Day 76 Friday Sept 18th

Info: Ok back to civilization and got everything settled down, lets get this project updated! Made it up to the hunting camp and actually headed out tonight to get some scout (I know this should have been done before hand, but when you are ballin on a time budget....you gotta do what you can) and hunting time in. Beautiful country and super peaceful being out in the forest, the elevation was rough but hey it is what it is! Dive about a 4hr afternoon/evening hunt. No luck but there are signs of Elk everywhere and even evidence of a Moose!

The gold through the forest...nice pic of the meadow we hunted

Food Log:

Breakfast: Omelet with onion and salsa

Lunch: Almonds, Beef Jerky - was on the road

Dinner: Burger patty with green chili and a side salad

Exercise:

Nice3-4 miles of hiking through dense forest at elevation....I think I have the exercise bit covered for the next few days - especially since we plan on a stalking hunt Sat night.

IW360 - Day 75 Thursday Sept 17th

Info:
Got out at lunch today to shoot the bow and do some final tuning, picked up my arrows that had new vanes put on them, assembled my broad heads and built my hunting arrows (stabbed myself in the process), packed up the gear and am ready to go! I cannot wait until tomorrow morning!

Administrative note - I will not be updating this until Sunday night at the earliest, computers don't travel nor connect to the internet well at 8700 ft above sea level, and I doubt Elk like computers anyways! I will get all caught back up again on Sunday night or Monday. Thanks for reading!

Cool view down the inside of my arrow...looks nuclear!

Food Log:

Breakfast: Eggs and bacon

Lunch: Greek salad with lamb and kalamata olives

Dinner: Chicken salad with romaine, hot sauce and oil for dressing

Exercise:

50 pushups, 50 air squats - not much, but I'm pinched for time!

DAY 75 COMPLETE
IW360 - Day 74 Wednesday Sept 16th

Info:
Today seemed like a blur which is good but I literally felt like I had time for nothing. Missed my workout tonight which pissed me off, but not much I can do when its go go from 6am - 11pm. I was so beat I doubt my workout would have been worth much anyway.

Food Log:

Breakfast: Eggs doused in hot sauce

Lunch: Ground beef taco salad with mixed greens lettuce. Hot sauce for dressing

Dinner: More chicken with carrot sticks ( I bulk cooked a lot of chicken lol)

Exercise:

None - failed on this part of the challenge, but I am going to continue working out daily, just because I missed an extra day doesn't mean I should give up!

DAY 74 COMPLETE
IW360 - Day 73 Tuesday Sept 15th

Info:
Back to the grind for a few days while waiting for the weekend. Luckily today was slammed at work so it kept me occupied! I literally am having dreams about Elk now (sorry I know you have all heard a lot about Elk, I can't help it!)

Oh yeah I almost forgot, got the results of the Colorado USPSA Championships, I ended up coming in 3rd in my division and I got a plaque and a cash payout! Not too bad for being Ill prepared!

Back to it!

Dinner: Meatsa with black olives, onion and sugar free marinara

DAY 73 COMPLETE
IW360 - Day 72 Monday Sept 14th

Time to pack up and go home, that's OK if I heard anymore Elk bugles I think I may have burst. I am 100% struck with Elk fever. I CANNOT wait until this weekend and being able to get out in the mountains and hunt! I am going full caveman on Friday! Lots of getting ready to do before I go, but hopefully its all going to be worth it! This is my first big game hunt in Colorado!

Yep, I've got it

DAY 72 COMPLETE
IW360 - Day 71 Sunday Sept 13th

More Elk today and relaxing in the mountains, what an awesome time. Today we were treated to steamed mussels by one of our friends camping buddies....are you serious? BEST CAMPING FOOD EVER!

Camping food? You bet!

Food Log:

Breakfast: Eggs and sausage

Lunch: Chicken breast, carrots and celery

Dinner: Mussels, beef and chicken skewers and salad. And beer. (Yep I slipped up and fell off the Paleo wagon and cheated. Hey I'm only human and eating strict for a year is HARD! Cool thing is I am going to get right back on track!)

Exercise:

Took it easier today, maybe walked a mile or so nothing spectacular.

DAY 71 COMPLETE
IW360 - Day 70 Saturday Sept 12th

Info:
Got home from the Colorado State Championships and loaded up the camper last night and got ready to head up to Estes Park CO. Its Elk rut season and listening to the Elk bugle all night is AWESOME. Its funny that such a large animal makes such a high pitched squeal. Cant wait to get out next weekend and hopefully fill my freezer with wild Elk!

Food Log:

Breakfast: Almonds and beef jerky

Lunch: Almonds, shredded beef and a few grapes

Dinner:Chicken breast, carrots and celery

Exercise:

Hiked up and down the side of a mountain, probably got ~2 miles of high elevation change hiking in. This sounds simple, but when you are around 8900ft above sea level, man do you suck wind!

DAY 70 COMPLETE
IW360 - Day 69 Friday Sept 11th

Info:
Today was the Colorado State USPSA Championships which I was extremely excited for, but did not really prepare for.  After USPSA Nationals life has been a blur and I have barely practiced. Too late to figure it out, I took the course and knew I just had to shoot as best as I could.....went in there slingin lead and guns blazin! I finished the day 3rd overall in Production class...but knew there were a lot of good shooters to follow tomorrow and likely my scores wouldn't hold up.....time to play the waiting game....HOLD, HOLD, HOLD

Took my girlfriend out for a spin....she loved it!

Food Log:

Breakfast: Almonds and beef jerky

Lunch: Almonds, shredded beef and a few grapes

Dinner:Chicken breast, carrots and celery

Exercise:

Got in 12 miles over the course of the match today, whew I'm tired!

DAY 69 COMPLETE

IW360 - Day 68 Thursday Sept 10th

Info:
Updates are coming, I didn't forget! I was out on the range helping set up for the Colorado USPSA Championship and then hit the mountains to listen to the Elk bugle during the rut (awesome experience - you should try it if you love nature) I will be getting you all caught up in the next day or so!

Man this is so true!

Food Log:

Breakfast: Beef jerky, carrots and celery

Lunch: Beef jerky, carrots and celery

Dinner: Burger patty covered in mushrooms and onions, salad with oil and balsamic

Got in 8 miles of running/walking today setting up for the state match, along with about 1,000 sledge hammer swing. Nailing down 12 stages worth of props with giant nails is a lot of work!

DAY 67 COMPLETE

IW360 - Day 41 Aug 15th - Day 66 Sept 8th

Info:
I hate to do this and jump 25 days, but I got myself so far behind I don't think there is a way to catch up and not dilute the posts or hurry them and then put out garbage. So I am going to click the fast forward button and get all caught up and THEN try to keep it that way. I will summarize what has been going on and then we can continue on from there!

Food Log:

Food has been Whole360 complaint for the most part - I have eaten some dairy because it is supposed to help with the elimination of gout. Sorry folks but I don't want to go through that pain again, and I'd like to think that if cheese was around cave men would have eaten it joyfully! Going forward now that the gout is out of the picture I will not be eating dairy.

Exercise:

Took the medical time out for my foot to heal up and it was definitely much needed. Although I don't have pain anymore, I can still feel some soreness here and there after workouts from the stupid gout. All the more reason to make sure that doesn't happen again! I have been back in the gym 1-2 days a week and have been keeping up with light workouts at home. I will say I haven't been working out like I have hoped to be, but this challenge really is about remaining active and not so much getting ripped. To that point I have remained active!
